Who We Are

LynTec is a leading manufacturer of remotely operated AC power control systems for the installed sound, lighting and video industries.  The undisputed leader in audio AC power sequencing at the circuit level featuring “one touch” remote system control, LynTec now offers individual or grouped circuit breaker on/off control and monitoring through a web browser interface, great for large A/V systems and theatrical lighting control.  Single or multi-panel systems utilize motorized circuit breakers that provide control and circuit protection in the same enclosure.  LynTec power panel control systems save space, improves reliability and reduces installation costs.

LynTec History

LynTec was founded in 1982 by Lynn Potter to bring a time/level controlled masking generator to market, the original PAC (Programmable Audio Controller). Later developments included Paging Switchers and The CrowdComp™, Crowd Compensating Computer.

No newcomer to the solid-state electronics market, Lynn came from a 16-year general aviation avionics manufacturing background, specializing in navigation, communications, and radar.

AC Power Sequencing, became a major line addition to the company in 1989, when General Electric discontinued a motor driven switching system used for sound system sequencing. Lynn responded by developing the PDS-16 Power Delay Sequencer which provided 16 circuit sequencing in a relay cabinet placed next to the power panel.

Lynn expanded the AC power sequencing line to include motorized circuit breakers in the early 1990’s.  Motorized circuit breakers gave LynTec the ability to offer electrical protection and circuit switching capabilities in the same enclosure.  This package saved space, lowered system installation costs, and was an immediate hit with audio system designers.

The power sequencing line now covers a wide range of AC circuit counts, from 4 to 84 circuits per panel with unlimited expansion capability. LynTec sequencing is found in facilities ranging from small churches to large performing arts centers and from high school gyms to NFL stadiums and NHL and NBA arenas.

In 2006, LynTec was purchased by RDC, Inc. after Lynn decided to retire.  The first order of business for RDC was to make the expansion of the electrical control business its top priority.   In 2007 LynTec launched the RPC remotely operated panel line.

The RPC line has a web-enabled controller that allows for remote set-up, control and monitoring of the circuit breaker panel.  A simple programming GUI is built into a web server right on the control board, this means that there is no additional software to buy or maintain.  Once the RPC is programmed, the system can be controlled via any RS-232, DMX512 or TCP/IP controller.

What’s in LynTec’s future?  Expanded lighting control, built in power conditioning and mobile applications are all in the works.  Look for LynTec to continue innovating power control systems that are simple to set-up, easy to control and always reliable!
