LynTec Pioneers Advanced Integrated Power Control Solutions for the AV and Lighting Industries
When LynTec opened its doors in 1984, the company’s mission was rooted in solving real-world challenges in the audio control market. Founded by Lynn Potter, a visionary engineer with a background in aircraft design and solid-state electronics, the company introduced a time/level controlled masking generator to market, the original PAC (Programmable Audio Controller). Lynn’s experience — from enhancing cockpit communication systems in the aviation industry to tackling the growing demands of powerful sound systems in large venues — gave LynTec a unique perspective in the rapidly evolving field of AV power control.
As AV systems became more sophisticated, LynTec embraced the emerging challenges. Namely, high-powered sound systems required proper power sequencing to avoid equipment damage, including blown speakers. In response, LynTec introduced the revolutionary PDS-16 Power Delay Sequencer in 1989. This innovation transformed how AV systems powered on and off, ensuring safety and reliability.
Lynn expanded the AC power sequencing line to include motorized circuit breakers in the early 1990’s. Motorized circuit breakers gave LynTec the ability to offer electrical protection and circuit switching capabilities in the same enclosure. This package saved space, lowered system installation costs, and was an immediate hit with audio system designers.
The power sequencing line now covers a wide range of AC circuit counts, from 4 to 84 circuits per panel with unlimited expansion capability. LynTec sequencing is found in facilities ranging from small churches to large performing arts centers and from high school gyms to NFL stadiums and NHL and NBA arenas.
In 2007, LynTec raised the bar again with the launch of the RPC Remote Control Breaker Panel. This web-enabled solution allowed users to program, monitor, and control their power systems remotely. It features an onboard web-based GUI, which eliminates the need for additional software and seamlessly integrates with popular control protocols like RS-232, DMX, and TCP/IP. The RPC set a new standard for modern AV power control and empowered organizations to efficiently manage their AV systems with ease and increase the life and energy efficiency of their components.
As LED lighting emerged and took hold, LynTec anticipated the shift and challenges away from incandescent lighting would require. LEDs as well as LED digital signage systems and video walls need an easy and reliable way to shut them on and off. In 2010, the responded with purpose-built power control solutions tailored to the unique requirements of LED. In 2015, LynTec launch of the LCP and LCRP Lighting Control Panel Series began to see rapid growth with lighting control becoming a core part of LynTec’s business and subsequently establishing LynTec as a leader in audio, lighting, and video power management across worship spaces, schools, theaters, entertainment venues, and sports facilities.
But LynTec wasn’t done. In 2023, LynTec began an exciting new chapter as part of the Chauvet family. As a Chauvet brand, LynTec has been able to accelerate its innovation and global reach. The company doubled its engineering and design team, supporting growing demand. In 2024, LynTec acquired Juice Goose, blending its robust panel-based power control systems with Juice Goose’s expertise in rack- and wall-mounted power solutions. Together, LynTec and Juice Goose offer the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio of power control products, spanning panel-based, rack-mounted, and remote relay solutions for AVL installations. Recent launches, such as the Dual Output DMX Relay, exemplify LynTec’s commitment to cutting-edge solutions.
As LynTec marks its 40th anniversary, the company celebrates a legacy of innovation, growth, and dedication to the AVL industry. Under the leadership of Mark Bishop, LynTec remains committed to advancing power control and distribution with scalable, reliable, and forward-thinking solutions. LynTec is ready to tackle the next era of AV and lighting power management with new product development and CE certifications on the horizon.
Here’s to 40 years of excellence — and to an even brighter future ahead.
