    ABOUT THE L SERIES

Signal line protection for exposed AVL systems.

The L Series provides targeted surge protection for low-voltage audio and data cabling in outdoor or long-run installations where equipment is most vulnerable.

Nearby lightning strikes can induce powerful, destructive energy pulses into audio and data cables, damaging speakers, amplifiers, and networked electronics. The L Series is designed to intercept these surges before they reach your critical equipment. These compact devices install inline and divert harmful voltage to ground, preserving both your hardware and signal integrity.

Featuring specialized models for audio lines (LA Series) and high-speed data with Power over Ethernet (LD-75), the L Series offers a simple, reliable solution for protecting distributed systems in stadiums, performance venues, and other large-scale facilities.

    WHY IT MATTERS

Specialized protection where it’s needed most.

    01

    Application-specific hybrid circuitry.

Unlike generic protectors, L Series devices use multi-stage hybrid circuits with MOVs and silicon avalanche diodes (SADs) tuned specifically for the demands of audio or high-speed data lines, ensuring fast and effective clamping.
    02

    Preserves high-performance signal integrity.

Protection is engineered to be transparent to the signal. The LD-75 is tested for 1Gbps transmission rates, while the LA Series features an impedance of only 0.02 ohms, preventing signal degradation in sensitive audio paths.
    03

    Engineered for long-term reliability.

Built for the realities of exposed installations, the L Series provides robust defense against surges up to 5,000 amps. The LA Series features a modular design, simplifying service and replacement after a significant surge event.
    FAQ

    Your questions, answered.

Common questions about signal line surge protection.
Does the LD-75 work with Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices?

Yes. The LD-75 is fully compatible with Power over Ethernet systems. It is rated to safely pass PoE up to 75V, making it suitable for protecting PoE, PoE+, and PoE++ powered devices like security cameras, wireless access points, and networked audio endpoints. It protects all eight wires in the data cable to ensure comprehensive safety.

How do I choose between the LA and LD-75 models?

The choice depends on the type of line you are protecting. Use the LA Series for analog audio speaker lines, typically found in distributed sound systems in stadiums or performance venues. Use the LD-75 for high-speed Ethernet data lines, including those carrying control signals, networked audio, or Power over Ethernet (PoE) to devices like cameras or access points.

How is the LA Series installed and serviced?

The LA Series uses a two-part, modular design for simple installation and maintenance. The required PCB-1B base is wired into the system permanently. The LA protection module then plugs into this base. After a significant surge event that sacrifices the module, you can easily unplug the old module and plug in a new one without needing to rewire the connections, minimizing system downtime.

What happens to an L Series unit after a major surge?

L Series protectors are designed to sacrifice themselves to protect your more expensive downstream equipment. After a major electrical surge, the protection circuitry absorbs and diverts the harmful energy. The unit may be destroyed in the process, but the connected amplifier or network switch will be safe. The modular design of the LA Series makes replacing the spent protection module quick and easy.

Why do I need separate protection for audio and data lines?

AC power protection only handles surges on main electrical lines. It does not protect low-voltage signal paths. Long or outdoor cable runs for speakers and network devices act like antennas, picking up powerful surges from nearby lightning strikes. The L Series is specifically engineered to intercept these induced surges on signal lines before they can damage sensitive electronics like amplifiers, DSPs, and network switches.

Will these protectors degrade my system’s performance?

No, they are designed to be transparent to the signal. The LA Series for audio has an extremely low impedance of just 0.02 ohms to ensure no audible degradation. The LD-75 is tested and verified for 1Gbps network transmission rates, ensuring it will not become a bottleneck in your data infrastructure, even in high-bandwidth applications.
