Yes. The SCV Series features hot-swappable, user-replaceable batteries. This design allows a technician to safely replace the battery modules while the UPS continues to power the connected load from utility power. This is a critical feature for mission-critical applications where downtime for maintenance is not an option, ensuring your systems remain protected and operational.
The SCV Series is designed purely for power protection and battery backup; it does not have built-in power sequencing capabilities. Its purpose is to provide a stable, uninterrupted source of power to other devices.
For controlled startup and shutdown of equipment in a rack, we recommend pairing an SCV UPS with a dedicated power sequencer, such as a LynTec PDS or RPC panel. The SCV would feed the sequencer, ensuring the entire control chain is protected.
SCV Series units are designed for operational visibility. For remote management, you can install an optional SNMP network card. This card allows the UPS to connect to your network, enabling you to monitor status, receive alerts, and manage the unit through a web browser or a network management system. This is ideal for centralized monitoring of power infrastructure in larger facilities or for unmanned equipment rooms.
To properly size an SCV Series UPS, calculate the total power consumption (in watts) of all equipment you intend to protect. The SCV Series has a high 0.9 power factor, meaning its watt capacity is very close to its VA rating (e.g., a 1000VA model provides 900W).

Yes, for applications requiring longer runtimes than the internal batteries provide, select SCV models feature a rear-panel connector for adding external battery packs (EBPs). Connecting one or more EBPs can significantly increase the time your critical systems can operate during a power outage.
